World's first Masters programme linking terrorism and organised crime offers Scholarships

September 2008 sees the introduction of the MSc in Countering Organised Crime and Terrorism, aimed at security and police professionals. The course seeks to equip students with the knowledge to understand, analyse, prevent and disrupt organised crime and terrorism by utilising a set of evidence-based methodological tools and expertise from across University College London, now ranked as the world's 9th best university.

Sir Stephen Lander, former Head of MI5 and current Chair of the Serious Organised Crime Agency, launched the course at the BT Tower on April 22nd and praised its topicality and the course's unique focus on operational strategies. Professor Gloria Laycock, Director of UCL's Jill Dando Institute, echoed these words: 'This MSc is particularly important to today's police professionals because of its emphasis on methods intended to reduce the opportunities for organised criminals and terrorists to operate. The initial response has been tremendous and we urge interested applicants to apply as soon as possible.'
