Thermo Scientific TruNarc Handheld Narcotics Analyzer can now detect xylazine

Thermo Fisher Scientific has recently released a software update for its Thermo Scientific™ TruNarc™ Handheld Narcotics Analyzer, expanding its already extensive drug library by adding xylazine – a horse tranquilizer that is gaining popularity as a street drug – as well as several nitazenes and other illicit substances. Software version 1.10.0, released on February 3, 2023, allows TruNarc Admin to automatically check for software updates, and resolves various issues encountered by users.

Overview:
Illegal drugs are constantly evolving as new compounds are being discovered and introduced, and police officers must keep up with this development to keep citizens safe. The TruNarc Handheld Narcotics Analyzer is used by law enforcement agencies in all 50 states – as well as around the world – to detect suspected substances, delivering real-time results at the push of a button. This accurate and reliable tool also receives regular updates to ensure it can support officers in their fight against both old and new illegal drugs.

Key applications:
