Airwave wins 2015 Business Continuity Award

Airwave took top honours winning the ‘Resilience in Infrastructure & IT Service Delivery’ award at the 2015 Business Continuity Awards held in London. Now in its 17th year, the Awards recognise those business continuity, security, resilience and risk professionals whose innovative strategies and industry savvy make them stand out above the rest.
The Airwave Network was awarded for having the most resilient approach to its IT service delivery. The judges took into account the planning for continuity as part of a larger strategy and the overall design of IT infrastructure from both the resilience and efficiency perspectives.
“The Airwave Network was built to meet the standards of resilience demanded by the emergency services and the need for a common national communications platform for all Great Britain’s emergency services. The Network is owned and operated by Airwave and tens of millions of pounds have been invested to make sure the police, fire and ambulance services across Great Britain continue to stay in touch in the toughest conditions,” says John Lewis, Chief Operating Officer of Airwave.
“Advance planning means that Airwave is in the best possible position to respond to any situation – the Network is highly resilient, with a unique backup system in place. It is also highly secure, covers 99% of Great Britain’s landmass, and is part of Her Majesty’s Government (HMG) Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).”
In 2013, Airwave won the ‘Resilience in Infrastructure’ award for meeting the exacting standards of resilience demanded by the emergency services in providing users with robust and secure communications.
