Children and staff from The Children’s Trust dished out refreshing drinks and sweets to the MET team when they stopped off during a sponsored run.

Challenging themselves on a run from Scotland Yard to Brighton, the squad – all members of the Metropolitan Police Rugby Football Club – enjoyed the welcome break along the way at the charity’s headquarters in Tadworth, Surrey.

They chatted with children and staff from the charity - the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury – and were grateful for the energy recharge offered to them.

It is the club's 90th anniversary this year and to mark the occasion they will be partaking in many fundraising events, such as this one. The Children’s Trust will be one of their benefitting charities.

Nicole Lavelle, Community Fundraising Manager said: “Not only is it wonderful that the team are fundraising for us, but it is great that we were able to get involved and cheer them on as they stopped en route.

“We enjoyed hearing about their run and their fundraising challenges for this year.”

The rugby team’s 90th anniversary celebrations will culminate with a tournament and tour to New York in June.
