A Sergeant from Cumbria Constabulary has received her national award for 'Excellence in performance' category in the British Association of Women in Policing (BAWP) Awards.
Sergeant Joanne Caffrey, 42, who is originally from Workington and currently lives in the Eden Valley, has been a serving officer with Cumbria Constabulary for 22 years and was nominated for the 2012 award by her colleagues.
In April 2012 Sergeant Caffrey was announced as the winner and recently received her award during a ceremony, which was held in Edinburgh on 6th November 2012. She was nominated and subsequently received the award for her dedication and determination to improve Cumbria Constabulary's performance. This included the development and delivery of the Custody Training programme, her involvement in the development of the award winning Professionalising Investigation Training programme and her work in relation to equality and diversity with communities both inside and outside of the Constabulary.
In addition she developed a new evaluation process across the Local Resilience Forum following major incidents, which has led to changes to multi agency and force development plans. T/DCC Michelle Skeer said: "This award shows the high regard with which Joanne is held across the Constabulary by her colleagues and I congratulate her on her achievement."
