Lancashire Constabulary's director of resources named in New Year's Honours List

LANCASHIRE Constabulary's director of resources has been awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours List.

David Brindle, 62, has been given the MBE for services to the police. David joined the constabulary in 1995 from KPMG in Leeds, where he was the senior manager responsible for their public sector, consultancy and audit practice.

David said: "As you can imagine I'm extremely pleased and feel very privileged. My overriding emotion is one of pride.

"I've been lucky enough to work for a fantastic organisation with some top quality people in it. I see this award as a testament to their efforts as much as my own."

He added: "I am already looking forward to taking my wife Wendy down to the palace to collect the award."

Lancashire Constabulary's Chief Constable Steve Finnigan said: "I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to David on his award of an MBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours List.

"David has worked for Lancashire Constabulary, as a chief officer, for 15 years, and has made an invaluable contribution to the success of the organization over that time. In his role as director of resources he has, amongst other things, ensured that we have exercised financial prudence, which I believe will help us to better navigate our way through the next very challenging four years.

"I know that David's wife, Wendy, and the rest of his family, will quite properly be feeling very proud of him, and I'm sure they will enjoy a wonderful day at Buckingham Palace at David's investiture."

David began his career at Bolton Borough Council where he qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountants (CIPFA) in 1972.

He joined the management consultancy practice of Price Waterhouse, based in Manchester in 1981, where his main clients were local authorities pursuing cost cutting and efficiency programmes.

In 1987 David moved to KPMG initially based in their Leeds office, but transferred in 1989 to their Sheffield office to set up a management consultancy practice. He moved back to Leeds in 1993.

Within the constabulary, David is responsible for finance, ICT, estates, corporate services and information assurance.

David lives in Preston. He and his wife Wendy have and four children.
