Elliott Freedman receiving his certificate from paramedic Jo Arnold
A Stevenage police officer has been commended by the East of England Ambulance Service for his help and assistance at a cardiac arrest he attended in Stevenage recently.
Elliott Freedman responded to a call from a member of public who said her husband had collapsed; the phone call then abruptly cut off. On his arrival, Elliot gained entry in to the property, where he found a man in cardiac arrest. Paramedic Jo Arnold, who attended the scene, said: "When I arrived, Elliott was performing basic life support on the patient. They had also placed an AED on him."
After several attempts to revive him, he was conveyed to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage where sadly he died shortly after. On Tuesday afternoon, Jo visited Stevenage police station to present Elliot with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Trust.
She said: "It was a pleasure to commend Elliot for his help on the day. Elliot went 'above and beyond' to help me in any way he could until the arrival of the ambulance, which was very much appreciated."
Acting chief inspector Richard Liversidge, who attended the presentation, said: "I am very proud of Elliot's resuscitation efforts during this response. It is pleasing to see the close working relationship that Stevenage police have with their colleagues in the ambulance service. I am pleased to see the officers hard work and skills have been recognised in this way."
