Success of ASB scheme
Thursday, 05 August, 2010
The North Devon policing team are celebrating the success of its football style referee scheme that was introduced to cut down on violence following night-time drinking.
The scheme has been running for 6 months and uses red and yellow football style cards. Over 200 pubs and clubs have signed up to it. To date 77 yellow card warning letters have been sent out with 17 currently pending.
The scheme aims to prevent alcohol related antisocial behaviour during 6pm-6am.
Participating pubs and clubs have direct access to the police website where they can view all exclusion orders issued through the courts. Anyone who re-offends is issued with a red warning letter and a 12 month ban from the participating venues. To date no one has reoffended.
