UKAS Provides FREE Forensic Accreditation Workshops
Friday, 12 February, 2010
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is running a series of free regional forensic awareness workshops for Police Forces and commercial forensic providers. Four workshops will be run in London, Glasgow, Leeds and Bristol between March and June 2010.
In 2009, the UK Forensic Regulator recommended that providers of forensic science services become UKAS accredited, following months of in-depth consultation. These workshops are designed to provide an introduction to UKAS, accreditation and Standards as well as offer an opportunity to meet assessment staff. Topics will include understanding the accreditation process, an insight into the principles of the standards, the route to achieving accreditation and an overview of the basic requirements. The workshops are kindly supported by the Regulator.
Jon Murthy, UKAS Marketing Manager, said: "Following the Forensic Regulator's recommendation, UKAS is delighted to be able to offer providers the opportunity to learn more about accreditation and the assessment standards that need to be adopted to meet the Regulator's requirements. Demand is expected to be very high."
