Police officers commended

Three police officers have been praised for their help, assistance and professionalism show at a serious incident they attended last October.

Hertfordshire Constabulary police constables Martin Sturgess, Holly Baker and Richard Griffiths, responded to a man who was found in a critical condition in a Bishops Stortford house. They immediately recognised he was not breathing and had no pulse.

They began to resuscitate the man before the arrival of the Ware fast response car, Tom Achard. Tom said: "When I entered the room, the police had everything under control. They were performing basic life support on the patient and their help was very much appreciated." Sadly after everyone's best efforts, the man died at the Princess Alexandra hospital in Harlow shortly after.

Communications manager Gary Sanderson recently attended a special presentation held at Stevenage police station, to pass on certificates of appreciation to the officers involved.

Gary said: "The three officers thoroughly deserve their certificates for their assistance on this very sad day. I wish to take this opportunity to thank Tom for bringing this incident to my attention."

During the presentation, the officers also received a Chief Constables commendation from the Eastern division deputy area commander, Paul Ealham.
