Crime Reduction Day in Tyldesley
Monday, 06 April, 2009
Officers from the Atherton Neighbourhood Policing Team are running a crime
reduction day in Tyldesley on Monday 6 April.
The initiative will focus on retail and business premises, and is a response to the recent increase in offences committed at stores in Atherton
and Leigh.
To mark the event a mobile station staffed by police community support
officers will be located on Tyldesley Square from 10am. Here, people can chat to police and receive crime prevention leaflets on a range of issues.
From 12 noon a crime reduction advisor and police officers for the area
will visit premises along Elliott Street and adjoining streets. Owners,
managers and staff will be given the opportunity to receive crime reduction
advice either then or at a later date.
Inspector Liz Sanderson of the Atherton Neighbourhood Policing Team said:
"As we will be joined by council and fire officials on the day, we will not just be looking at crime prevention with shop keepers.
"Fire safety and environmental issues will also be addressed as part of
this community reassurance event, and agencies will work to resolve any problems identified on the day."
