Grampian Police are celebrating after being crowned the winners of the 2008 Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon.

The Corporate Decathlon runs from February to November, and includes a range of sports from ballroom dancing to highland games, along with a personal health challenge. The culmination of the event is the Sports Ball in November where the results of the personal health challenge are revealed and the winners are announced.

A range of public- and private-sector companies compete in the Aberdeen Corporate Decathlon, including Shell, Aberdeen City Council, NHS Grampian, Vecto Gray and Subsea 7.

Grampian Police's team won the volleyball competition and reached the quarter-finals of the badminton and touch rugby; they came third in the cycling; and were placed fourth in both the highland games and golf tournaments. This, along with their results from the other events, was enough to secure them first place on the leader board.

This is the second time the Force has won, first winning in 2006, and then coming second in last year's competition. They fought hard to regain their crown, managing to beat off stiff competition and climbing to the top of the leader board with 545 points - only six points more than second placed team, Chevron.
