Home Secretary Jacqui Smith MP, will be the keynote speaker at UNISON's annual police staff conference in Glasgow on Thursday 16 October. The conference is taking place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Congress Road, Glasgow, between 9.30am and 5.00pm.
The conference attracts more than 100 delegates from across England, Scotland and Wales, representing police staff from all areas of work including police community support officers, custody and forensic officers, station enquiry clerks, dispatchers and traffic wardens.
Hot topics for discussion include violence and aggression towards staff, protecting members from false allegations, police force funding, support for PCSOs, training, challenging racism and outsourcing.
Jacqui Smith will be speaking in the morning soon after the conference opens at 9.30am.
