Extended Use of Taser - Response

Jan Berry, Chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales says:
"The Police Federation of England and Wales has repeatedly called for the extended use of Taser. Today's announcement by the Home Office that Taser has indeed proved to be a successful deterrent to violent criminals, adds further weight to our campaign to equip all frontline operational officers with Taser."
"Taser has already resolved potentially fatal incidents and this should reassure the public and provide front-line officers with the encouragement that Taser provides improved protection in a non-lethal way."
"Should the use of Taser be made readily available to all frontline officers, it is vital that full training is provided and we continue to monitor its use."
