Applications are invited for vacancies within the Child Abuse Investigation & Safeguarding Unit (CAISU). The CAISU is based in 2 units to cover the North of the County (from Peterborough) and the South of the County (from Cambridge). Successful applicants will be based at one of these units.

The CAISU team have responsibility for managing and investigating some of the most serious crimes in Cambridgeshire. The post holder will be involved in the investigation of serious and complex cases involving vulnerable children, adults who report historical abuse and, in some cases, offences committed by persons in a position of trust. These can involve allegations of sexual and physical abuse, severe neglect, offences relating to indecent images of children and child death.

This is an immensely challenging but incredibly rewarding role that offers an opportunity for officers to progress rapidly along a detective career pathway, where they will obtain vast experience of serious and complex investigative techniques, strategic thinking and partnership engagement. Applicants should be aware that on occasions there can be a high degree of stress associated with investigating child abuse cases.

Applications will be accepted from PIP2 qualified Detective Constables and successful candidates will be expected to have good investigative and case management skills, as well as the ability to effectively prioritize and to manage a high workload.
