We currently have an exciting opportunity for 2 Senior Criminal Enforcement Officer - Cybercrime to join our Enforcement team in the Safety and Surveillance group.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research.

This is an omnicompetent role. You could be involved in a variety of activities, including tackling cybercrime, investigation, covert operations, intelligence collection, or delivering innovative interventions to criminal threats as outlined in the attached Job description.

Job description

We are currently looking to fill several vacancies and are especially keen to hear from candidates with experience in combatting cyber-threats.

The MHRA conducts work to identify the infrastructure used by cyber criminals. Our activities are generated through an intelligence-led approach to dealing with online offending, focusing on the key threats to the UK, tackling criminals, and managing risk to patients.

Desirable criteria

It is desirable, but not essential, for candidates to have experience in the following areas:

  • Strategic understanding of the cyber landscape and emerging criminal methods
  • Appropriate skills to collect data, understand threats and deliver innovative cybercrime reductions
  • Providing advice on legislation, policy and technical options to disrupt online criminality
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders to reduce online threats
  • Practical knowledge of internet investigations

Technical skills

We will assess you against one or more of these technical skills during the selection process:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as Computer Misuse Act, National Good Practice Guide for Digital Evidence, and the Data Protection Act.
  • Knowledge of network investigation and evidence handling.
  • Knowledge of investigation techniques to determine cyber-threats.
  • Ability to deliver penetrating reports fully independently, that articulate complex matters clearly and concisely in a way that aids comprehension.

This is a full-time home working role on a permanent basis with the potential of working from one of our London sites – Canary Wharf London E14 4PU / Potters Bar London EN6 3QG. This post will require some occasional travel within the UK. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
